Accuracy and Disclaimer

Use the results, but check them
FreeInvoiceHQ is built to be accurate and is tested against known reference values. It is still software written by people, running in a browser we do not control, on input we cannot see. Treat every result as a well-informed starting point rather than an authority.
Before you rely on a result for anything that matters — money owed to someone, a legal or tax position, a medical decision, a machined part, a navigational fix — check it against a second source.
Specific limits of this site
What an invoice must contain is set by the law of your own country and by whether you are registered for VAT, GST or sales tax. This tool does not know either. The checklist on the site is a general guide, not a statement that a document it produces satisfies any particular jurisdiction.
Whether tax is due, at what rate, and on which items, is your decision. The tool applies the rate you type and nothing more — it does not determine liability, registration thresholds, place of supply, or whether a reverse charge applies to a cross-border sale.
One tax rate is applied to the whole document. Invoices carrying items at different rates, or a mix of taxable and exempt lines, need per-line tax codes and are outside what this tool does.
Totals are calculated in whole cents. Discounts are subtracted before tax is applied, and tax is rounded once, half away from zero, on the whole taxable amount. Accounting software that rounds tax line by line may produce a figure a cent or two different on a long invoice; neither result is an error, but the two will not always agree.
Invoice numbers are incremented from whatever you type. No register of issued numbers is kept — nothing is stored on any server — so making sure a number has not been used before is yours to do.
No currency conversion is performed anywhere. Amounts are formatted according to the currency you select, and are never converted between currencies at any rate.
Drafts are held in your browser's local storage so a refresh does not lose your work. That is not a backup: clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or opening the site on another device will not have your draft. Save the finished document as a PDF.
References to payment terms, statutory late-payment interest and record-retention periods are general information about widely published rules, current at the time of writing, and are not advice about your situation.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is tax, accounting, legal or other professional advice, and using the invoice generator does not create a professional relationship of any kind. If a decision has real consequences, ask somebody qualified and accountable.
Liability
Our liability for the results this site produces is limited as described in the Terms of Service. In short: the site is free, it is provided as-is, and we cannot accept responsibility for losses caused by relying on it without checking.
